Interaction is the key to a successful session…

“The intimate format of Freilich sessions allows you to extract a lot more from your performance than just the presentation of your work. I always interact with my audience and involve them into my performance to build sympathy and a personal relationship” – Geo Popoff, Beatboxer, Vienna

Your questions answered

I'm not a musician, can I still perform?

Sure thing! Just make sure your performance or presentation fits into private locations with limited space. If you have special requirements, simply describe what you need in your artist profile and proactively look for hosts that match your needs.

Do I get paid?

Yes. Your performance is appreciated with hat donations from the audience. We do our best to maintain a minimum average of 150€ per session (25 avg. attendees). Please understand that we cannot offer a guaranteed income. You are of course free to discuss individual solutions with your host.

Freilich hint: The more you engage and interact with your audience, the better the response in terms of donations/selling merch and winning them as long-term fans. Also check our best practices to make the most out of your gig.

What do I have to pay?

To help us cover the costs of developing the Freilich platform, we ask you to contribute a success fee after you succesfully performed a gig. This means setting up your artist profile and organizing your gig is free. Only after your Freilich gig took place and only if you earned at least 100€ (based on your honest feedback) a success fee of 29€ is added to your account. The fee decreases to 9€ in case you earned less than 100€. In this case please reach out to us. And remeber: We are never going to charge you before you performed. This is because want to keep your interests (more gigs, fair compensation) as our goal.

Who organizes the equipment?

As an artist, it is your responsibility to organize and transport the equipment needed for your show. Be aware that your host is most likely not familiar with technical setup at all, so that she won’t know what a tech-rider, PA, or XLR cable is. Fairly enough, your host is sharing his/her location with you and your audience. Only if hosting remains as easy and uncomplicated as it is, more and more community members will decide to host a session themselves. And more hosts mean you get more opportunities to perform.
